We Believe In You
We believe success is within the reach of every youth and teen who walks through our doors. There is no single approach to help our kids succeed. It takes caring adult professionals, a safe environment, high-quality programs, unique experiences, strategic partnerships, and community support to empower kids to excel in school and lead healthy, productive lives.
Boys & Girls Clubs don’t just do one thing, we do whatever it takes to build great futures for our young people.
The Challenge
1 in 3 school-age youth and teens are alone and unsupervised after school. This is a concern for working parents. Kids without a safe place to go between 3 pm and 6 pm are at risk of adverse experiences that can have a tremendous impact on their future. At best, unsupervised children may spend their time watching television, playing video games, or eating junk food. At worst, unsupervised children may be victims of or engaged in violence, criminal activity, and bullying.
= Great Futures
Boys & Girls Club is the Cumberland Plateau’s largest provider of youth sports, recreational, cultural and educational opportunities during summer and afterschool time. Each year, over 4,000 children, from all walks of life, participate in Club activities through direct services or community outreach programs. Our professionally trained staff and volunteers supervise wholesome, constructive activities and programs that guide youth toward successful health, social, educational and character-building skills. Our programming ranges from our basketball league to our STEM and robotics programs. Our facility enhances our ability to reach out to Scott County’s children and surrounding communities in a way that delivers profoundly effective solutions to the many challenges facing the young people of our community.
Academic Success
Youth and teens who attend Boys & Girls Club for 105 days or more a year are twice as likely to graduate from highschool.
Healthy Lifestyles
4,180 USDA hot meals and snacks provided to members free of charge last year.
Good Character & Citizenship
78% of parents agree that Boys & Girls Club programs reduce the likelihood that youth will engage in risky behaviors.
Our mission is “To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.” We take that mission very seriously. The smiles on the faces of the children we serve underscore the success we are having in being able to confidently state,
“I love Boys & Girls Club because it is always fun here. If you are not a Club kid, you need to come. It is so much fun! All the staff are my favorite. All the staff are nice and kind! We have too many fun options to do here!”
